Relasi Pertukaran Sosial antara Agen dan Nasabah Asuransi di Indonesia

Abstract
Asuransi menjadi sebuah polemik bagi sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia. Terlepas dari manfaat proteksi berupa uang pertanggungan yang ditawarkan, agen asuransi masih mengalami kesulitan mendapatkan nasabah karena beberapa hal seperti terbatasnya daya beli, kurangnya kesadaran manajemen resiko, dan kasus-kasus nasabah merasa dirugikan asuransi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertukaran sosial antara agen dan nasabah asuransi—mengidentifikasi sumber daya yang dipertukarkan masing-masing pihak beserta karakteristik aktor yang terlibat dalam pertukaran. Metode penelitian kualitatif dilakukan dengan pendekatan studi kasus instrumental yang melibatkan 3 orang agen dan 3 orang nasabah asuransi diwawancara secara semi-terstruktur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sumber daya yang dipertukarkan bisa berupa sumber daya berwujud (uang, hadiah) dan tidak berwujud (informasi, layanan, jejaring) pada tiap tahapan transaksi. Bahkan pada tahap transaksi yang sedang berlangsung, agen bisa memanfaatkan sumber daya pihak lain demi meningkatkan daya tukarnya. Selain sumber daya, persepsi subjektif aktor juga berperan dalam memaknai kepuasan terhadap pertukaran yang tengah dijalani. Terdapat beberapa karakteristik prasyarat dari masing-masing aktor yang jika dipenuhi akan terjalin relasi pertukaran jangka panjang yang fungsional.
